About
Engineer by training, product thinker by instinct.
I like being close to both the code and the people it serves. Here's a bit about how I got here and how I think about the work.
João Filipi BrittoI'm a software engineer who also builds and runs products. By day I work on the engineering behind a high-traffic media platform. On my own time I run HelpFlux, a small SaaS house where I design, build, and operate products end to end.
That second part shaped how I think. When you own a product (its pricing, its users, its support tickets, its uptime), you stop counting features and start caring about outcomes. You also learn that the details you're tempted to skip are usually the ones that decide whether people trust it.
So I try to work at the seam between engineering and product: building things that are good to use, and being honest about their tradeoffs. This site is where that work lives.
Engineering philosophy
Write code for the person who maintains it next, which is often future me. Prefer clarity over cleverness, small composable pieces over monoliths, and boring, proven tools over shiny ones. Optimize for change, because the requirements always do.
Product philosophy
Start from the user and the outcome, not the feature. The best products feel obvious in hindsight because someone sweated the details you never notice. I'd rather ship one good thing than five half-finished ones.
What I value
Craftsmanship
The work is the argument. Care shows.
Ownership
Outcomes over output. I follow problems to their end.
Honesty
Straight about tradeoffs and limits. Trust compounds.
Longevity
Build things that last and stay maintainable.
